Welcome to YCHistory.org

The York County Library of York County, South Carolina, has many valuable resources for local historians and genealogists including newspaper articles, typed manuscripts, photographs, and electronic databases. To make them easily accessible to the researcher and to preserve them for future generations, we have digitized many of these items and provided access to them through this website.

York County Library Digital Collections

The York County Library Digital Collections was created, so that the databases of YCHistory.org could be accessed and maintained through a single site, instead of 3 different sites. This website provides access to three separate databases:

• Photograph Database
  A database of photograph collections that have been donated to the York County Library by local residents.




• Newspaper Article, Manuscript, and Church History Database
  A database of digitized newspaper articles (many with photographs), manuscripts of family histories, church histories, and centennial celebration pageants.




• The News and Obituary Index
  A newspaper database that indexes selected articles from the York County newspaper collection on microfilm that is held in the Local History Collection of the York County Library. 138 E. Black St., Rock Hill, SC.
